Is your faucet dripping from the spout ?
The first thing your going to need to do is turn off the water to the
faucet. There are 2 types of faucet mounts. There is the Deck Mount Kitchen
Sink Faucet, and the Wall Mount Kitchen Sink Faucet. If your faucet is
mounted on the sink, it is a deck mount faucet. This being the case there
should be 2 shut off valves under the sink. One is for the hot and one
is for the cold. Reach under the sink and turn them both off. Turn them
clockwise until they stop. These valves are sometimes hard to turn due
to the calcium build up on the valve stem. If you have a wall mount faucet,
there will not be shut off valves under your sink. If you have a wall mount
faucet or am unable to shut off the valves that are under the sink, you
will need to shut the water off to the entire house.
If you have an elecric water heater you must turn the electricity
off to it before turning the water off. Usually there is a circuit breaker
labeled "Water Heater". Just switch it off.
To locate the main water shut off to your house. Walk out to the water
meter and walk or look straight toward the house. There should be a hose
bib (a place to hook up a hose)with a gate valve below it. Turn the valve handle clockwise until it stops. Then open the hose bib to let the pressure off
the line. Leave the hose bib open until you have repaired the leak and am ready to turn the water back on. After the leak has been repaired, turn the the water
back on to the house. Close the hose bib you opened earlier. If you have
an electric water heater turn a hot water faucet on in the house and leave
it on until there is no more air coming out of the tap. The water will
run at steady stream. Now turn on your electric water heater.
